Laura Ellison was born in Muskegon, Michigan in 1972. She is the youngest of four children, the only girl with three older brothers. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University, where she majored in English, her emphasis in creative writing. She has been drawn to the occult since she was a child, playing with Tarot cards and reading books about astrology, reincarnation, and the after-life that she shared with her mother.
